Q&A with Chester L. Richards

Chester L. Richards is the author of the new memoir The Trek Continues: More Memoirs of a Rocket Scientist. He also has written the memoir From the Potato to Star Trek and Beyond. He is a retired aerospace engineer.

Q: What inspired you to write The Trek Continues?

A: I had a large overflow of stories from my first book.

Q: Of the various experiences you share in the book, do any especially stand out for you?

A: Each story became special for me as I wrote it. However, the first part of the book is focused on my experiences traversing wilderness parts of Ethiopia.

Q: What impact did it have on you to write this book, and what do you hope readers take away from it?

A: I had fun reliving the experiences as I wrote them down. I hope my readers are equally entertained.

Q: What are you working on now?

A: The third book of this trilogy is written in draft form. Editing and publishing it is next year’s project.

Q: Anything else we should know?

A: These books chronicle parts of our world that have been too little reported. This is includes telling what it is like to work alongside the high talent in the aerospace industry. I talk about the extraordinary people who created our venture into space – especially a couple of the great, unsung, behind the scenes heroes.

And too, there are many adventures of an unusual, and sometimes hair-raising, nature. I hope these stories entertain the reader as much as they entertained me when I wrote them.

Finally, these books capture some of the spirit of my dear, now departed, Sarah.
