Ellwyn Autumn is the author of the new children's picture book Teddy Bear Tea. Her other books include Captain Hook: Villain or Victim? and Chris Kringle's Cops: The First Mission. Also a teacher, she lives in Pennsylvania.
Q: How did you come up with the idea for Teddy Bear
Tea?
A: This may sound clichéd, but it just came to me.
Sometimes my story ideas are inspired by events or people; they’re well thought
out with great outlines and hours of research. This one wasn’t, but I’ve been
an avid teddy bear lover all my life. My first teddy, Amos, can attest to that.
Q: How did you first get interested in writing for
kids?
A: Ever since I was a young child, I’ve wanted to be a
storyteller. Once I became a mother and an early childhood teacher, the spark
was directed at children’s literature.
Q: What do you think Tanya Glebova's illustrations add
to the book?
A: They encapsulate the playfulness and joy I felt
while writing the story. They’re colorful, cute, and overflowing with
jubilance.
Q: What do you hope kids take away from the story?
A: That the differences and similarities that exist
among people can be welcomed, respected, and enjoyed.
Q: What are you working on now?
A: I’m focusing on marketing Teddy Bear Tea and my reimagined
fairytale The Enchanted Press. It’s about a faun named Mr. Tims. He’s a reporter
investigating a wave of crime sweeping through the Enchanted Forest.

A: I love connecting with readers. I also have free
