January 2024 Jewish Book Carnival

Jewish Book Carnival for January 2024

I'm delighted to be hosting the January 2024 Jewish Book Carnival! The carnival, which appears  on the 15th of each month, brings together an assortment of information on books with Jewish themes.

Here are this month's selections:

"Do Golems Dream of Electric Shuls?" Author Sally Wiener Grotta chatted with Rabbi-Cantor Michael McCloskey about how the study of golems as they have been depicted in Hebraic texts, Jewish folklore and literature, and science fiction can be an important starting point for discussing the moral responsibilities of creators of technology, especially AI and robots.  www.sallywienergrotta.com/2023/10/11/do-golems-dream-of-electric-shuls-moral-responsibility-of-technology/

This month on gilagreenwrites, Gila features a helpful and informative guest post by author Rebecca Gardyn Levington on the “misheggos” of buying into the myth that editors and agents dislike rhyme.

On her My Machberet blog, Erika Dreifus routinely compiles news of Jewish literary interest. Here's one recent post, including Erika's own look back at her past "year in Jewish books," among much else!

Reuven Chaim Klein just posted a new review written at the Rachack Review: https://rachack.blogspot.com/2024/01/the-choice-to-believe-reason-to-believe.html

Life Is Like a Library reviews the books they've been reading since Oct. 7: https://lifelibrary-ksp.blogspot.com/2024/01/the-right-book-at-right-time.html

And on my blog, I recently interviewed Martin J. Siegel about his new biography of Judge Irving Kaufman, Judgment and Mercy: The Turbulent Life and Times of the Judge Who Condemned the Rosenbergs.'
